Can I make my own DOS bootable floppy?

Yes, if you are using OS, you can create a MS-DOS boot disk.

To do this in OS, insert a blank floppy disk into the drive and right click on the A: Drive in My Computer. From the popup menu select Format and then turn on the check box to "Create a MS-DOS startup disk".

Once formatted, delete the following files to ensure there is enough space on the new floppy:

  • EGA2.CPI
  • EGA3.CPI
  • EGA.CPI
  • KEYB.COM
  • KEYBOARD.SYS
  • KEYBRD2.SYS
  • KEYBRD3.SYS
  • KEYBRD4.SYS
  • MODE.COM
  • DISPLAY.SYS

You can now copy any program that you would like to run onto this floppy diskette.

Once booted from the diskette, simply type in the program name at the command prompt to run the program.
